Day Training
We are excited to now offer Day Training at Dogs in the Park! Day training is a little like day care, but your dog gets structured training time as well!
What is day training?
Day training is a day your dog gets to spend with one of our certified instructors or mentees (instructors in training who are under instruction from a certified instructor), learning skills, getting off leash time, and learning to settle in a crate! Throughout the day, your dog will enjoy: an off leash walk with other dogs (if appropriate); 2 training sessions, and rest time in crates. Purchase your Intro to Day Training package below!
How does it work?
Our Intro to Day Training package includes two full days of day training, as well as a one-on-one intake where we meet you and your dog. During the intake, we will go over what you’d like your dog to work on, as well as the foundational behaviours we work on each day. After you have completed your introductory package, you can either purchase an individual day through our online Day Training system, or purchase a package for discounted prices. Once you’ve purchased your package, you will receive an email with your booking code and link to book your dog in for training.
On your scheduled day, you will drop off your dog at the Dogs in the Park training hall between 8:00am and 8:30am. From there, we do the rest! Pick up for your dog is by appointment between 5pm and 7pm.
Who is eligible?
Day training is ideal for puppies, and we will take older dogs, too!
Please note that If we find your dog is really struggling with the other dogs and people involved in Day Training, we can look at transferring them to our behaviour stream, called the Good Dog Program. Please be prepared that your dog may be sent home if they are not behaviourally suited to group Day Training.
***PROHIBITED EQUIPMENT: Choke chains (a.k.a. slip collars), electric shock collars (a.k.a. muscle stimulation collars), bark collars, flexi leashes (a.k.a. extendible leashes), some pain-based harnesses, and raw meat dog food & treats are prohibited in all Dogs In The Park programs, classes, workshops, seminars and walks.***** If you are unsure about any of your dog’s equipment, please bring it along with you, separately (and not on your dog).
If you have questions about Day Training, please email admin@dogsinthepark.ca.
PLEASE NOTE: You have 8 weeks to book your Day Training Days from your date of purchase.
Our Intro to Day Training package is how we get to know you and your dog! This package includes two sessions of day training with one of our Certified Professional Dog Trainers or mentees, as well as a private intake session where we’ll go over training fundamentals for you and your dog.
